The idea which would become Pretty Good Knowledge was conceived during Bill Binney’s trip to the Netherlands to present a keynote message to the CIO Day event in Amsterdam. His presentation was sponsored by Brunel, and he was hosted by Marco Visser. Bill was able to share his insights with the exclusive executive pre-sessions (shown below) and on the plenary stage during the main agenda of the conference. In addition to the CIO Day, Bill made a number of other appearances at various companies and events.
During these activities, the concept of ‘bringing the team back together’ from the NSA and creating a company in Europe was formed between Bill and Marco. In Europe, the privacy regulation (GDPR) was building up momentum, and the expertise of Bill and his old team to conduct massive scale analytics while remaining secure and respecting privacy was urgently needed in the market.
